Unplug During Severe Storms

 – By

Remember during Severe Storms to unplug your computers and other devices FROM THE WALL OUTLET.  Having a surge protector isn't enough.

Surge protectors are great for a layer of protection but they can fail if lightning strikes.

When lightning strikes near a power line, whether it's underground, in a building, or running along poles, the electrical energy can boost electrical pressure by millions of volts. This causes an extremely large power surge that will overpower almost any surge protector. In a lightning storm, you should never rely on your surge protector to save your computer or any other electronic device

If you unplug your electronics from the electrical outlet in the wall, there is zero chance of a power surge that can fry your device.
